Whew!  It’s been a little while since my last update!  Several changes have been happening in my world lately; the most notable is that I have resigned from id Software and will be moving to the Pacific Northwest area very shortly (like…in three days)!  I’m sad to say goodbye to my id family and will always be excited to see what they come up with, but I am ridiculously excited for the future.

In the meantime, I’m pleased to announce my musical side project singlefrequency.

In short: singlefrequency is an experimental musical collaboration with various forms of art and media.  I have so many friends in different areas of the creative realm and I thought it would be cool to experiment with the whole idea of “audire fabula” in a new way.  I might write out a little musical sketch and send it a to a writer friend – this might inspire them to come up with a short story idea – this might, in turn, inspire a visual artist to come up with a quick painting – this comes back to me and the piece continues to evolve over and over again.  I like the idea of having a completely nontraditional and no-stress method in which to come up with something new with a group of talented friends.

I officially opened the doors to the singlefrequency bandcamp page a couple of days ago if you want to check it out:

Likewise, if you all have one of them there fancy facebook pages, you can “like” singlefrequency (that is, if you truly do “like” singlefrequency) here:

Anyway.  That’s it!  I’ll try to update this site a bit more frequently in the future…I have a wealth of field recordings that I’m itching to share with you all. 🙂

  1. Awesome. Not to get all Greek on you, but it reminds me of the concept in rhetoric of ekphrasis–the expression in words of a piece of art. But you add sound! Which is clearly better!!
