Awesome. Not to get all Greek on you, but it reminds me of the concept in rhetoric of ekphrasis--the expression in words of a piece of art. But you add sound! Which is clearly better!!

Thanks you two! They are fun to work on.

Soundslikenoise - yep, what I have posted here are simply layers to other projects. I basically do a big session of drone creation for source material, edit it, tag it all, and then roll it into a directory somewhere and add it to my sfx database. They become textures for later use that way.

Thanks for listening!

There's nothing more mesmerising than drones and soundscapes. I'm sure I've lost hours working on them. Your chopper drone is really impressive. Helicopters have such great depth of sound and a nice steady beat to play with. Do you ever try to incorporate these drones into some kind of soundscape?

Craig -

Oftentimes in the video game industry, the audio departments are quite small, so when they hire, they want to hire someone that won't have quite as much "spin up time". There are companies out there with larger departments that consist of varying experience levels and there are companies that offer internships.

When someone is looking to break into the industry, I always try to tell them to make themselves as marketable as possible. Learn third party game audio implementation tools. Pick up game engine toolsets. Start getting your stuff in games and make them sound great in the game environment and not just from your monitors.

Get involved with a serious MOD team to get experience with "shipping" something and working with people outside of audio.

Getting into the industry is very difficult and is only getting more so. Keep the tenacity and continue to push yourself in your craft.
