I realized I never linked to this really fun interview I did with the fine folks at Ossic! I AM DUMB. We talked about all things audio including my process, some of the projects I’ve worked on, VR, and my side projects. Check it out: http://press.ossic.com/blog/2015/12/7/talking-game-audio-with-zach-quarles-audio-director-at-microsoft-xbox
Microsoft Studios did a small feature/interview with me! Check it out if you feel so inclined! I talk about silly things. https://microsoftstudios.com/news/2016/03/14/inside-microsoft-studios-meet-audio-director-zachary/
Soooooooooo…I’ve been somewhat busy and haven’t updated this page in ages. I thought I’d give a slew up posts to show off some of the work that I’ve been doing as audio director for the Killer Instinct franchise. As a quick summary, here’s a video I helped put together to show off what all we did from an audio standpoint for Killer Instinct: Season 2 Pretty fun stuff!

To continue the theme of finding random stuff in my archive, I came across an audio exercise that I did a couple of years ago. It started off as an audio test that didn’t gain traction; but I had a blast working on it, so I finished it out and tucked it away. It’s a moody scene from a little film starring our favorite xenomorphs: Audio Exercise: Xenomorphs from Zachary Quarles on Vimeo. I have done a number of these sorts of … Continue reading
My dad sent me this amazing video explaining what happens when the speed of sound is broken today: Granted, the sound quality itself is bad…but holy crap, it is still so ridiculously cool. This reminded me of an element of my childhood that I hold in a very special place my heart. When we were living in Phoenix, Arizona, we would periodically pile into our massive sky blue van, stop at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and make the trek out to Luke … Continue reading
